RTA has endorsed the accelerated transformation of US 1 / Capital Blvd. to a multimodal freeway from I-540 to the Wake/Franklin Co. line via dedicated toll revenue, potentially with a reduced toll rate during off-peak periods. We are focused on identifying a viable, accelerated solution path with our local, county, regional, state, and federal partners.

RTA and our member chambers of commerce, in concert with the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina and the Central Pines Regional Council, are spearheading a campaign to maximize federal funding to replace, relocate, and lengthen the primary runway at RDU.
RTA and the NC Chamber are leading the push for an access user fee to modernize highway funding. An access fee — which applies a consistent fee to all registered vehicles, regardless of annual usage — is a simple, fair, and resilient way of replacing the state gas tax and keeping vital moving.
